A graduate of UCD and the King`s Inns, he holds a Doctorate in Law from Trinity College Dublin. As a ruling adviser, he participated in 1996 in the opening of all-party negotiations in Stormont, which eventually resulted in the Good Friday Agreement. From 1997 to 2015, he was a practising lawyer and was appointed to the High Court in October 2015. He was kept full-time in UCD and UCC and part-time in TCD and NUI Galway in legal education.
