A new clause was included in the main construction contract – the contractor`s right to suspend work in case of employer delay – which has always been part of the nominated/chosen subcontract agreement. The document is the cornerstone of the JBCC 2000 series. The agreement consists of nine sections that begin with definitions of all major elements and phrases. The following sections are arranged as close as possible to the order in which the project is carried out. The contract is designed to be used with or without quantitative invoices and requires the completion of the corresponding contract data forms.

One of the main functions of JBCC is the publication and updating of design agreements and associated backup documents. The first editions were published in 1991, and since then various editions have been published at different intervals. The latest 2018/2020 editions contain significant changes compared to previous editions and this book not only focuses on these changes, but also focuses on interpreting and understanding the contractual conditions that users, especially contractors and subcontractors, face in their construction projects. The JBCC® SSWC is intended for the transformation, renovation and addition of existing or new buildings that are no more than three storeys high and are not intended to use sophisticated building systems or install complex services. The contract is divided into 12 clauses and contains an agreement signed between the employer and the contractor and the contractual data in which all the contractual variables are first recorded by the employer to obtain offers from the contractors, completed by the contractor and submitted in the form of a call for tenders. A single „Contract Data“ form has been introduced for each agreement. The principal representative completes this form to obtain offers; the contractor (or subcontractor) completes this form by completing the guarantees to be provided, the adaptation of the preparatory work, etc., as well as the price of the offer. With acceptance, the contract data become part of the contract document with the signing contract and other applicable documents….
