Stubborn foreigners refused to recognize rules because there was no official government about them. The pilgrimage guide William Bradford later wrote: “Many foreigners gave disgruntled and mutinous speeches.” In November 1620, the Mayflower arrived in the New World and carried 101 English settlers, commonly known as pilgrims. The majority of the pilgrims were Puritan separatists who went to America to escape the jurisdiction of the Church of England, which they said violated the biblical commandments of true Christians. After anchoring in the present-day port of Provincetown, in the Cape Cod area of Massachusetts, a group of armed men commanded by Captain Myles Standish was sent to explore the immediate vicinity and find a suitable location for settlement. In December, the explorers landed in Plymouth, where they found flattening fields and abundant water. A few days later, the Mayflower was moored in Plymouth Harbour, and colonization began. The conspiracy was revealed by Hobbamock`s support, and Massaso demanded, in accordance with the terms of the contract, that Squanto be returned to punishment. Bradford refused because Squanto had become vital to the colony`s trade relations with the natives, which weighed on the treaty. Despite this, the agreement was not broken and the problem was resolved when Squanto died in 1622 AD, possibly poisoned by Massasoit agents, to remove it without compromising the Wampanoag`s relationship with Plymouth.
Hunt decided to enrich himself by abducting 24 natives of the Nauset and Patuxet tribe to sell himself to slavery in Spain, including a young Patuxet warrior named Quantsh (better known as Squanto, the .c 1585-1622 after J.C.), which would help the Plymouth Colony survive. After his abduction, Squanto then returned to North America and, after killing almost his entire tribe with a European disease, ended up with Massasoit, possibly a prisoner. To end the conflict and maintain unity, the pilgrimage guides (including William Bradford and William Brewster) designed the Mayflower Compact before disembarking.
